[ Onthophagus (Furconthophagus) furcatus (Fabricius, 1781)]
Literature quotes. SAUDI ARABIA: Hejaz, “Hedjaz” (d’Orbigny 1898c).
Material examined. None.
Distribution. Arabian Peninsula: Saudi Arabia (Ziani & Bezděk 2016). North Africa: Morocco (Ziani &
Bezděk 2016). Asia: Middle East, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan (Ziani & Bezděk 2016). Europe: central and southern Europe (Ziani & Bezděk 2016).
Remarks. Onthophagus furcatus is the only truly Palaearctic species of the subgenus (Zunino 1981) and its presence in the Arabian Peninsula is unlikely, and requires confirmation. The historic record from Saudi Arabia could be referred to Onthophagus (Furconthophagus) aethiopicus d’Orbigny, 1902 .
