= Ligustrum robustum subsp. chinense P.S.Green (1995: 385) .
Note:—In the protologue, Yang (1939) indictated two gatherings, W. P. Fang 1986 and W. P. Fang 2348, as the types, and both are thus syntypes according to Art.9.6 (Turland et al. 2018). Green (1995) cited W.P. Fang 1986 as the type, and indicated the duplicate at K as “isotype”, but he did not mention which one is the “ holotype ”. Therefore, Green (1995) has achieved to first-step lectotypification for the name by the gathering W.P. Fang 1986. Five duplicates of W. P. Fang 1986 were traced from four herbaria above, and two sheets (NAS00072233, NAS00072234) bear the labels with Yang’s handwritten. The duplicate NAS00072233 is designated as second-step lectotypification for the name because of its better condition and annotated by its original author Yang. It should be noticed that Lin (2009) overlooked the Green’s choice and selected W.P. Fang 2348 at PE as the lectotype, According to Art. 9. 19, Green’s choice must be followed and Lin’s choice should be therefore superseded. Yang (1939) also cited nine gatherings as paratypes, and five of which are found at CQNM. By comparing the available duplicates in different herbaria, we found quite a lot of type errors on the information of paratypes. The gathering cited as “ T. H. Tu 270 ” should be corrected to Ching & Shun 28, collected on 3 June 1931 rather than 8 June 1931, while another gathering cited as “ T. H. Tu 270 (?) ” is T. H. Tu 270 collected on 12 June 1935. “ T. H. Tu 398 ” should be corrected to T. H. Tu 798. On most duplicates in the herbaria other than CQNM, the gathering “ T. Tang 23193 ” bears the label with the collector “F. T. Wang” and collected on 4 July 1931 from Mt. Emei although the tied tag with the reading “Szechuan Exp., T. Tang, 1930”. However, only the duplicate CQNM0015731 has the label with the name “ Ligustrum purpurascens Yang, sp. nov. ” annotated by Y. C. Yang (Yen Chin Yang) in 1930.
