Ficus pumila var. ellipsoidea W.C.Cheng in Cheng & Chien (1934: 254).

Type:— CHINA. Zhejiang [Chekiang]: Pingyang, Nan Yan Dang, Xian Gu Dong, 15 July 1934, S. Chen 3564 (PE00023071, lectotype designated by Lin et al. 2008a; isolectotypes IBSC0373559, NAS00070407, PE00023071, PE00734086) . One of the remaining syntypes: CHINA. Zhejiang: Pingyang, 4 August 1932, Y. Y. Ho 1528 (CQNM0001154, NAS00070406, PE00023070, PE00734085).

Note: —This variety was neglected in the account of Ficus in Chinese floras (e.g. Chang et al. 1998, Zhou & Gilbert 2003), and Lin et al (2008a) did not mention its identity either when lectotypifying this name.
