Notes. One of the larger species in the genus Licea (up to 0.8 mm in height) with a single peridium, irregular dehiscence, and a furrowed stalk that narrows at the apex. However, the spores in our collections are greyish brown by transmitted light instead of pale reddish-brown, as described in Ing (1999). In habit, it is similar to Licea floriformis var aureospora, but this species has bright yellow spores in mass and a double peridium. It could also be confused with Licea operculata (Wingate) G.W. Martin and Licea erecta K.S. Thind & Dhillon. Still, the mode of dehiscence in the former is through an operculum, and the peridium in the latter is double.
