Prostheceraeus roseus Lang, 1884

Type locality. Bay of Naples, Italy (Lang 1884).

Distribution. Ria de Arosa in Corrubedo, Galicia, Atlantic coast of Spain (Noreña et al. 2014); Canary Archipelago: Lanzarote (De Vera et al. 2009) (Fig. 1, L3; Table 1 and 2).

Occurrence in the Canary Islands. Prostheceraeus roseus was observed at depths of 28–30 metres, on 27/08/ 2009 and 10/04/2011.

Taxonomic remarks. Although some variability in the colour patter was registered the alternating pink and white longitudinal stripes agree with the description of P. roseus . Nevertheless, the exemplars from Lanzarote display dorsal colour stripes twice as wide as those described for the Mediterranean species.
