Anonymus virilis Lang, 1884

Type locality. Bay of Naples, Italy (Lang 1884).
Distribution. Puerto Grande de San Vicente, Cape Verde (Laidlaw 1906); Canary Archipelago: Tenerife (De Vera et al. 2009) (Fig. 1, T10; Table 1 and 2).
Occurrence in the Canary Islands. The organism was observed at depths of 4 metres, on 02/07/2003.
Taxonomic remarks. The translucent appearance in which multiple male copulatory organs can be distinguished, the intestinal ramifications are marked orange or reddish, the cerebral eyes are grouped in a characteristic single elongated cluster, and the marginal eyes distributed along the first third of the body, agrees with the description made by Lang in 1884 form A. virilis .
