Pseudobiceros wirtzi Bahia & Schrödl, 2016

Material examined. One specimen from Fuerteventura and Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands (Fig. 1, F2, L1 and L2; Table 1 and 2).

Type locality. Ngor Island, Senegal (Bahía & Schrödl 2016).

Distribution. Santo Antão, Cape Verde; Madeira and Canary Islands (Bahía & Schrödl 2016)

Ocurence in the Canary Island. Pseudobiceros wirtzi was observed at depths of intertidal to 4 metres (intertidal zone), during the spring and summer time.

Taxonomic remarks. The specimen captured in Fuenteventura coincides in the coloration as well as in the arrangement of the tentacles and the eyes with P. wirtzi described by Bahia & Schrödl 2015, from Senegal. P. wirtzi is characterized by the presence of two male copulatory organs and a conspicuous unique pigmentation pattern of multiple yellow and white fine lines across a dark (brown to black) background colour.

Due to its characteristic colour and drawing pattern, we deduce that the specimens identified by Vera et al 2009 as Pseudocerotidae sp. 4 is Pseudobiceros wirtzi .
