Eunice grubei Gravier, 1900
Eunice grubei Gravier, 1900: 258 .— Fauchald 1992: 161.
Remarks. This species was reported from the Great Barrier Reef by Monro (1931). Specimens in the lots examined by him (AM W.2945, W.2946) and an additional one from the Great Barrier Reef (AM W.18151) are in sufficiently poor condition that the record cannot be confirmed, despite agreeing with E. grubei in some features. Rullier (1965) also reported the species from Queensland; the record is somewhat dubious in that the species as originally described has branchiae from chaetiger 3 and Rullier’s specimen had branchiae first present from chaetiger 6. Eunice grubei was originally described from Dijibouti in the Red Sea and cannot be confirmed as occurring in Australian waters.
