“ Pararrhaptica ” trochilidanus

(Walsingham)

Presumed extinct

This species is known from three specimens: the holotype female and two

paratype males collected by Perkins at elevations of 3000–4000 ft on Molokaʻi. It appears closely related to “ P.” fuscoviridis (Walsingham) from Lānaʻi and “ P.” lichenoides (Walsingham) from Hawaiʻi island and likely fed on Psychotria spp. (Rubiaceae) or Nestegis sandwicensis (Oleaceae) like other members of this undescribed genus.
