Annual herb. Leaves alternate, fleshy. Flowers solitary, subtended by 2 leaf-like bracteoles; perianth lobes 5, united at the very base, unequal and winged above the middle in fruit; wing falling off along a definite line of dehiscence and leaving behind a 2-lobed protuberance; stamens 5; anthers appendiculate; stigmas 2, subulate. One sp., R. turkestana Bunge, Transcaspian lowlands.
