Cossulus kopetdaghensis Yakovlev & Alipanah, sp. n.

(Figs. 12A, B)

Material examined. MWM: Holotype, 1 ♂, Iran, Razavi Khorâsân Prov.: Kopet Dagh, Bargovein Mt. (= Barjovein Mt.), Shahr-e Kohneh, 27.–28.vi.2000, leg. Gazkó (gen. prep. No. MWM 34.604); paratypes, 3 ♂♂, same locality and data.

Diagnosis. From all the studied species of Cossulus, which was recently revised by Yakovlev & Witt (2017a), it externally differs well by the specific reticulated pattern of the forewing and the pale brown portion on its surface in the center (Fig. 12A). Additionally, the newly described species is differentiated from the other species of the genus by having a short uncus (Fig. 12B).

Description. Male (Fig. 12A). Head: Vertex and frons with yellow scales; labial palpus covered with similar scales, with length slightly more than the half length of horizontal diameter of compound eye; antenna unipectinate, with length 0.4 times the length of forewing, pecten process shorter than the antennal segment diameter.

Thorax: Densely covered with yellow-brown scales; tegula and patagium yellow-brown. Wingspan 35–39 mm (n = 4). Forewing (Fig. 12A). Elongate, with obliquely rounded termen, apex rounded; upperside yellowish-brown with pale brown streakes along the costal margin, pale brown pattern of thin streakes throughout the wing area, and a pale brown portion from discal area to the apex, fringes mottled (pale brown at veins and yellow between the veins). Hindwing upperside pale brown, without pattern, fringes pale yellow, unicolorous.

Abdomen: Densely covered with yellow-brown scales. Genitalia (Fig. 12B) typical for the genus in structure, with phallus being thin, almost straight, equal to the length of valva, having the same width along its length. Bulbus ejaculatorius positioned dorso-apically, length of its entrance one-third of the length of phallus, vesica without cornuti; saccus developed; juxta thin, with long lateral processes (equal to the transtilla processes) diluted at right angle; transtilla process bent uncinately, with sharp apex; valva sclerotized basally, membranous distally, with lanceolate apex and poorly developed crest on costal margin; gnathos robust, densely covered with small spines, gnathos arms long and thick; uncus short, wide, with rounded apex.

Female unknown.
