Extant specimens: MCUC ZOO.0000057 (Fig. 31).

Classification on the specimen: “P. Th. Pleuronectes papillosus ”.

Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None.

Comments: See additional comments on the previous species. This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. Paralichthys orbignyanus occurs in the Southwestern Atlantic from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) to Argentina (Figueiredo & Menezes 2000) .
