Hylobothynus obesus Ohaus, 1910: 678 .
Diagnosis. Endrödi (1985) differentiated Hylobothynus obesus using the basal margin of the pronotum strongly bordered, which is not bordered at its base in H. columbianus . Furthermore, the pygidium of H. obesus is sparsely punctate on the lateral angles, whereas it is more punctate in H. columbianus . The parameres of H. obesus are shorter and wider (Figs. 46–47) than those of H. columbianus (Figs. 41–42).
Locality records. (Fig. 48) Holotype, 1♂. Ecuador: Jivaria [ZMHU]. Amazonas (Colombia): La Chorrera, 30 km aval de La Chorrera, río Iguara-Parana.
Distribution. Ecuador (Endrödi 1969), Colombia, and Peru (Dechambre 1979, Ratcliffe 1981).
Natural history. Nothing is known about its natural history.
