Remarks. This species is known from the island of Crete and the neigbouring islet Gavdos (Tilmans 2002). The record from the island of Naxos is probably based on a mislabelling (see Willemse & Heller 2001). It is most similar to P. martinae and P. inflatus as discussed in morphology and acoustic part. Its relatives in Anatolia exhibit a high diversity in a narrow area, thus, re-examination of specimens from Crete and other islands may allow us to discover a rich diversity here as observed in some other Orthoptera (Çıplak et al. 2010) . The previous records given in Willemse (1984) were also marked in the distribution map.
