Neohydatothrips xestosternitus (Han & Cui, 1991)

This sericothripinae species was originally described from China, and is here recorded from India for the first time. The species can be recognized by the dark brown body with abdominal segments V–VI yellow (Fig. 2); legs yellow at extreme bases of fore tibae and apices of femora, all tarsi yellow. Antennal segments II–III yellow, II brown on basal third. Fore wing paler on apical half with a subbasal band. Head with polygonal reticulation. Pronotum polygonally reticulate; blotch area small with transverse anastomosing striae. Mesonotum with transverse anastomosing striae and metanotum with longitudinal anastomosing striae. Abdomen with rows of microtrichia, absent on IX and X. Tergite VIII with a complete comb of microtrichia posteromarginally.
