Latheticomyia longiterebra Hennig

Latheticomyia longiterebra Hennig 1969: 592, Figs 1, 2; Prado 1984: 48 A.1; Buck & McAlpine 2010: 822, Fig. 5; Marques & Rafael, 2016: 425, Figs 1 –13. Type locality: Madre de Dios, Peru. Holotype female, CNC.

Diagnosis. Scutum with a wide yellow stripe occupying the space between the dorsocentral rows, longitudinally divided by a narrow brown acrostichal stripe into the anterior 2/3; coxae and trochanters yellow, fore and mid tibiae yellow with apices brown, hind coxa brown with basal and medial yellow rings, femora brown from basal half to basal 2/3 with remainder yellow; male sternite 6 slender with anterior margin concave and lateral margins convex.

Geographical distribution. Peru (Cuzco, Madre de Dios), Brazil * (Acre; Fig. 3).

Remarks. This species was redescribed by Marques & Rafael (2016) who provided figures of the body and male genitalia. The above Brazilian record is the first occurrence of Latheticomyia longiterebra outside of Peru.
