[[Genus Pseudolaguvia ZBK ]]

Members of the genus Pseudolaguvia ZBK are small erethistid catfishes that resemble members of the sisorid catfish genus Glyptothorax ZBK externally. The genus is only known from river drainages in the area bordered by the Ganges River drainage to the west and the Sittang River drainage to the east. Six species of Pseudolaguvia ZBK are considered valid (Ng, 2005): P. ribeiroi (Hora, 1921), P. shawi (Hora, 1921), P. tuberculata (Prashad & Mukerji, 1929), P. kapuri (Tilak & Husain, 1975), P. tenebricosa Britz & Ferraris ZBK, 2003 and P. foveolata Ng ZBK, 2005.

Examination of Pseudolaguvia ZBK material collected in Bangladesh revealed two distinct species found to be undescribed. The description of this material as Pseudolaguvia inornata ZBK new species, and Pseudolaguvia muricata ZBK new species, forms the basis of this study.
