The M. porcatus group
The group comprises large (5–8 mm), blackish, nude, partially glabrous species with large, round to oval, open elytral punctures that compress the interstriae into narrow, usually slightly wavy costae, and it includes M. bidentatus Lea, 1899, M. conspiciendus Lea, 1909, M. leptorrhynchus Lea, 1911, M. porcatus Erichson, 1842, M. semiporcatus Erichson, 1842 and M. unidentatus Lea, 1899 . Putative host records are available only for M. porcatus and M. semiporcatus .
