Tribe Pomacentrini .
— The tribe contains Amblypomacentrus sensu novum, Neopomacentrus, Pomacentrus, Pristotis, and Teixeirichthys . In terms of diversity, the group is dominated by Pomacentrus . Though not so named, some workers have inferred phylogenies containing a clade consistent with what we report herein (Litsios et al., 2012b; Frédérich et al., 2013; Rabosky et al., 2013; DiBattista et al., 2016). However, other studies did not find these taxa together, instead resolving a separate clade composed of some combination of Neopomacentrus, Pristotis, and Teixeirichthys (Cooper et al., 2009; Cowman and Bellwood, 2011; Hofmann et al., 2012; Litsios et al., 2012a; Lobato et al., 2014; Gaboriau et al., 2018; Rabosky et al., 2018; Delrieu-Trottin et al., 2019), which was often sister to Amphiprionini . Where those recent phylogenies have agreed is in consistently finding Amblypomacentrus, frequently associated with stray ‘‘ Chrysiptera ’’ (equivalent to our Amblypomacentrus sensu lato), in a clade with Pomacentrus (Cooper et al., 2009; Cowman and Bellwood, 2011; Hofmann et al., 2012; Litsios et al., 2012a; Frédérich et al., 2013; Rabosky et al., 2013, 2018; Lobato et al., 2014; DiBattista et al., 2016; Mirande, 2016; Gaboriau et al., 2018; Delrieu-Trottin et al., 2019).
