Oceanapia topsenti nom. nov.
Phloeodictyon medium Topsent, 1928: p. 321–322, pl. II, fig. 18, pl. X, fig. 27 (Azores).
Oceanapia media; Burton 1956: p. 142 (genus transfer).
Not Oceanapia media (Thiele, 1899) (a valid species).
Remarks. Thiele (1899) described Rhizochalina media from Indonesia. Topsent (1928) described a new species from the Azores as Phloeodictyon medium, the species was transferred to Oceanapia by Burton (1956). When Van Soest (1980) proposed Rhizochalina as synonym of Oceanapia, he induced the homonymy between these species. According to the International Code of Zoological Name (ICZN 1999: 52.2) the name of the species Oceanapia media (Topsent, 1928) should be rejected. Oceanapia topsenti nom. nov. is herein proposed as a replacement name for Oceanapia media (Topsent, 1928) homonymy of Oceanapia media (Thiele, 1899) .
Etymology. Named after Emile Topsent, who designated the species name.
