Genus Trichocorixa Kirkaldy, 1908

Trichocorixa verticalis (Fieber, 1851)

Corixa verticalis Fieber, 1851: 24 (as new species); Corixa pygmaea Fieber, 1851: 24 .

Distribution in Iran. West Azarbaijan (Ahmadi et al. 2011).

General distribution. East of USA, West Indies, Central America (Hungerford 1948).

Comments. This North American species is also known (accidentally) from southern Spain (Günther 2004), Portugal (Sala & Boix 2005) and Morocco (L’Mohdi et al. 2010).

An unknown species, Trichocorixa sp. was reported by Nikdel et al. (2011) from East Azarbaijan. Probably the specimens from Iran refer to another genus because Trichocorixa is an American genus. Also, A. Matocq as the coauthor of the mentioned paper (Nikdel et al. 2011) did not determine this genus (A. Matocq personal communication to P. Moulet).
