volxemi (Podisus) Distant 1887b: Lviii–Lix .
Original data: “ Hab. Brazil. Therezopolis.” “Brussels’ Museum” “Van Volxem Collection”. [syntype (s)]
Current status: Podisus volxemi Distant, 1887 .
Notes: Thomas (1992: 86) remarked: “ Schouteden (1907 b) provides a figure of this species (as Apateticus volxemi). I was unable to locate Distant’s specimens of Podisus volxemi in the collection of the British Museum (Natural History).” If Schouteden could provide a figure of the species, it is because, as per Distant’s original description, a type is in IRSNB. Synave (1969: 20) recorded the presence of the holotype in IRSNB. As nothing in the original description indicates that there was only one specimen, we accept Synave’s mention of the holotype before 2000 as a lectotype designation by inference of “ holotype ” (ICZN 1999: Art. 74.6).
