Current status: Platynopus melanoleucus (Westwood, 1837) (synonymised by Distant 1900a: 57, 63, see Schouteden 1907: 47).
Note: Although Walker (1867a: 127) had noted: “The markings of this species and the longer spines of the thorax distinguish it from P. melanoleucus .”, the species was nevertheless synonymised to P. melanoleucus by Distant, 33 years later.
