Cotinusa setosa (Mello-Leitão, 1947) new comb.
Thiodina setosa Mello-Leitão, 1947: 32, pl. 6, fig. 14; World Spider Catalog 2015.
Note. According to the original description (Mello-Leitão 1947), this species has “poorly elevated (= low), narrow cephalothorax (and) front tibiae with two pairs of bulbose setae”, which agrees with the pattern seen in species of Cotinusa, which supports the transfer. The boundaries of this genus are still not understood, but presently under revision (Costa & Ruiz in prep.). The figure given by the author (Mello-Leitão 1947, fig. 14) seems to illustrate the epigynal area of a juvenile female. Despite this species being considered species inquirenda by Galiano (1981), it is possible that the peculiar pattern of dark spots on the carapace of this species (see Mello-Leitão 1947: 32) may help recognize it in the future.
