(2014), Abdollahi et al. (2015).

Recorded distribution in Iran: Northeast, north, northwest, southwest, centre.

Comments: The species has often been recorded under the name of P. striatus L. Examination of the holotype of Cicada striata L. 1758 (by W.J. Knight and quoted in Greene, 1971), showed it to belong to the genus Anoscopus Kbm. The concept of Psammotettix striatus (L.) as defined by Ribaut (1925); (Ribaut 1952) is therefore problematic and needs resolution. P. alienus appears to be a well-defined species.
