Neoascochyta mortariensis L. W. Hou et al., Studies in Mycology. 96: 391. 2020
Description.
see Hou et al. (2020 b).
Materials examined.
China, Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou City, from healthy leaves of C. sinensis cv. Longjing 43, 16 Nov. 2017 Y. C. Wang, culture ex-type CGMCC 3.24251 = YCW 1346 .
Notes.
Neoascochyta mortariensis was introduced as Didymella graminicola previously. It was described as a new species in Neoascochyta, distant from the authentic culture of D. graminicola (currently: Neoascochyta graminicola) (Hou et al. 2020 b). Neoascochyta mortariensis was first isolated from Oryza sativa in Italy and formed colonies on PDA covered by dense felty aerial mycelium (Hou et al. 2020 b). It formed a distinct lineage closely related to N. tardicrescens (Fig. 4). In the present study, one strain was isolated from diseased tea plant leaves. This is the first report of N. mortariensis isolated from C. sinensis .
