Laminamichaelia Uusitalo, 2010
Type species: Bimichaelia arbusculosa Grandjean, 1942 from France; by original designation .
Differential diagnosis. This genus differs from Bimichaelia by the cuticular pattern. The primary pattern of Laminamichaelia may be stellate, i.e. the highly regular polygonal or roundish cells of large lamellae form a rosette around a seta, which is, in turn, also incorporated in the other surrounding rosettes, and the secondary pattern consists mainly of transversely packed lamellae (Figs. 105, 119, 133B), but the small lamellae are lined up longitudinally one after another in one case (an undescribed Polynesian sp.). The large primary lamellae are clumped in groups connected by rows and lines of transverse secondary lamellae, i.e. the reticular pattern is absent in the subnuda -group (Figs. 133C, D, an undescribed African and Australian spp.). The primary pattern of Bimichaelia forms roundish to subpolygonal loops of large lamellae and tiny ridges inside loops are granular (Figs. 133E, F; Uusitalo 2010: 100, 105). All dorsal setae of Bimichaelia have less than ten, mainly short barbs basally, and difficult to discern against the intrigate cuticular pattern whereas the setae of Laminamichaelia are easily discernible because of several elongated cilia per seta at least on the shoulders and middorsum (Figs. 133E vs 133A, 106, 120).
