Laena glabriuscula Sahlberg, 1909

Examined specimens: Cyprus, Lemesos, 6.–13.IV.2012, leg. D. Frenzel, 1 ex. CRG, 1 ex. SMNS .

Remarks: Eventually, L. glabriuscula Sahlberg, 1909, described from Lebanon, is a junior synonym of L. pici Reitter, 1900 (see below). According to Schuster (1916), both can be distinguished by the shape of the pronotum and elytra. The above listed specimens from Cyprus (new record for this island) completely coincide with specimens in SMNS from the Near East, and are therefore assigned to L. glabriuscula and not to L. pici from southeastern Turkey.

Published locality: Lebanon (Schuster 1916).
