Caloptilia Hübner, 1825

Caloptilia is a large genus, with over 300 species that are found worldwide. In South Africa, specifically, there are 27 known species (De Prins & De Prins 2011–2023b). However, the biology of 16 of these species remains unknown. The host plants of the remaining species reveal a certain preference for Anacardiaceae family (4 species).
