Nyanja Distant, 1908 b:224 . Type-species by monotypy: N. muiri Distant, 1908 b .
Diagnosis. Face ivory or yellow to redbrown with frons transversely banded with black between antennal ledges (as in Abbalomba, Figs 6 H–K); coronal markings (when present) confined to tylus or forming transverse band between antennal ledges. Head usually angularly produced; pronotum usually sparsely punctate (shiny in T. bimaculatus Synave); tegminal veins obscure or irregularly patterned with black, sometimes black at tips (Figs 7 E– Q); pecten of 2nd tarsomere of hind leg with 5–6 black-tipped spines. Slight to distinct sexual dimorphism. Ovipositor 2nd valvulae broad, strongly tapered to pointed tip, without teeth on dorsal margin beyond fused bases (Figs 11 B–G). Length: 3–5 mm.
Included taxa. There are 10 species in this subgenus, of which half are new to science.
