Distribution. Widespread Holarctic species, for details see Negrobov & Naglis (2016).
Status in CZ. Previously recorded both from Bohemia and Moravia: Aš (Kowarz 1884), České Budějovice (Gelbič & Olejníček 2011), and Vranov nad Dyjí (Franz 1989). No relevant specimens were available for study and additional male specimens from Podyjí NP, provisionally identified by J. Olejníček (common handwritten label “ M. apicalis ”), were found to be misidentified, belonging to four different species: M. abstrusa Thuneberg, 1955 (mostly), M. caeruleifacies Naglis & Negrobov, 2014, M. belgica Parent, 1936, and M. tristis (Zetterstedt, 1838) . The new records from Bohemia confirm its presence.
Ecology. All specimens examined were found on trunks of deciduous trees near wetlands.
