The variety was described by Descatoire from the Archipel de Glénan, W coast of France, approximate coordinates 47.7167°N 3.983°W, depth 2 m (type material not identified). The variety was erected after 1960 making it an unavailable taxon (ICZN art. 15.2). The differences with the typical variety Yvesia rosea Topsent (1892, from Banyuls, Mediterranean coast of France, approximate coordinates 42.4778°N 3.1556°E, depth not reported, syntype slides MNHN DT 174 and 175) are minor, and the identity of the specimen is reverted to the species Crella (Yvesia) rosea (Topsent, 1892) .
