Australophiotaenia sp. 3

Host. Olive python, Liasis olivaceus (Gray, 1842) ( Ophidia: Pythonidae).

Distribution. Australia (North Territory).

Material studied. One specimen from L. olivaceus (host field No. AUS 002), Northern Territory, 25.05.2001, collected by Ian Beveridge (MHNG-PLAT-85981).

Remarks. A single specimen available is 41 mm long and contains only immature proglottids and one mature proglottid. It is characterised by possessing 153–182 testes, a post-equatorial position of the genital pore (at 55– 60% of the length of the proglottid), and a long cirrus-sac, which represents 38–45 % (x = 42%, n = 4) of the proglottid width (see Table 2).
