Arvicola scherman (Shaw, 1801)

Type locality: Strasbourg, Bas Rhin, Eastern France .

Notes: Small and proodont water voles adapted to fossorial mode of life. Recognized as species on its own right already by Miller (1912) and Ognev (1964).
