Type locality: Santo Domingo de Silos, Burgos, Spain .

Notes: A large, orthodont, and strictly aquatic species with 40 chromosomes. Range restricted to Spain, Portugal, and western France; mapped in Ventura (2002) and Shenbrot and Krasnov (2005).
