Hoplopleura hesperomydis (Osborn)

Sumter Co., Poinsett State Park, 16 January 1995, 14 April 1995, 11 and 12 February 1995, ex Peromyscus gossypinus (Le Conte), coll. K.L. Clark.

Hoplopleura hesperomydis is an ectoparasite of Peromyscus spp. and Ochrotomys nuttalli (Harlan) (Durden & Musser 1994) . Kim et al. (1986) reported a single collection of H. hesperomydis from Bull’s Island, South Carolina, but Bull's Island was probably a misspelling of Bull Island.
