Cimexopsis nyctalis is an ectoparasite of chimney swifts, Chaetura pelagica (Linnaeus) (Usinger 1966), but occasionally enters homes and bites humans. Cimexopsis nyctalis is not known to transmit any pathogens, but other cimicid ectoparasites of birds are vectors of arboviruses (Krisnky 2002).
