Neotrombicula fitchi (Loomis)

Pickens Co., Eastatoe Valley, 28 October 1992, ex Glaucomys volans, coll. S. Miller. This chigger was found in the ears of a male flying squirrel. The major hosts for larvae in eastern Kansas were tree squirrels, whereas in south central Kansas they were taken from cave bats and “gray wood rats” (Loomis 1956).
