Genus Metaboydaia Fain, 1962

Type species: Speleognathus poffei Fain, 1955 by original designation.

Diagnosis. Palps with 2 segments. Hypostome with 1 pair of setae (n absent). Propodonotal shield absent. Propodonotal region with 4 pairs of setae (ve and se absent). Hysteronotal region with 5 pairs of setae (h2 absent). Each genital and agenital series with 2 pairs of setae. Pseudanal setal series with 1 pair of setae. Setae 1a, 3a and 4a present. Number of leg setae: coxae 2–1–1–1, trochanters 0–0–0–0, femora 6–4–2–4, genua 4–4–3–3, tibiae 5–3– 3–3. Setae situated in anterior part of tarsi I–IV normally developed.

Remarks. The monotypic genus associated with birds of the orders Coraciiformes and Pelecaniformes and recorded in the Afrotropical region (Fain 1956a).
