Diagnosis. Palp tarsus with 2 setae (Na-type) and solenidion; palp tibia without setae. Hypostomal setae n Na-type, m Db-type. Propodonotal shield absent but small network of lines on cuticle between sensillary bases present. Sensillae si SC-type, other idiosomal setae (including coxal setae) Db-type. Femur I with 5 setae, femur IV with 2 setae.

Host and distribution. Pelecaniformes (Ardeidae): ArdeOla idae Hartlaub from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Butare] (Fain 1956a).

Non-African host and distribution. Ardeidae: NycticOrax caledOnicus (Gmelin) from Australia (Domrow 1969).
