Type Locality: Mexico, Tlaxcala, Amecameca, at the foot of Popocatepetl.

Vernacular Names: Aztec Mastiff Bat.

Distribution: Jalisco (Mexico) to Nicaragua; Cozumel Isl (Mexico); S Venezuela.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Included in molossus by Koopman (1993, 1994), but see Dolan (1989). The Venezuela record is from Lim and Engstrom (2001). Also see López-González and Presley (2001).
