Dugesia leporii Pala, Stocchino, Corso & Casu, 2000
Dugesia leporii is an endemic Sardinian species restricted to a single locality (Rio Flumentepido) in the southwestern part of the island (Pala et al., 2000) (Fig. 1). The species reproduces only sexually and is distinguishable from its congeners by a peculiar shape of its penis papilla and by a combination of the other features of its copulatory apparatus. Karyological studies previously performed highlighted a diploid chromosome complement of 2n = 16; n = 8, with a karyotype characterized by six metacentric chromosomes and two submetacentric chromosomes (Pala et al., 1999).
