Generitype of Thymus Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 165. 1929).

Current name: Thymus vulgaris L. ( Lamiaceae).

Note: Cramer (in Dassanayake & Fosberg, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 3: 192. 1981) indicated 744.6 (LINN), a Löfling collection associated with T. zygis L., as type. Morales rejected this choice on the grounds of conflict with the protologue, designating Burser material as lectotype in its place.
