Generitype of Tribulus Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 153. 1929).

Current name: Tribulus terrestris L. ( Zygophyllaceae).

Note: Schweickerdt (in Bothalia 3: 174. 1937) treated 547.4 (LINN) as the type, but the sheet lacks a Species Plantarum number (i.e. “3”) and is a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and not original material for the name. El Hadidi (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 95. 1993) independently designated the same type as Burtt.
