Lectotype (Lassen inTurland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 481. 1997): Herb. Clifford: 375, Trifolium 15, sheet 3 (BM-000646749) .

Current name: Trifolium rubens L. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Zohary (in Candollea 27: 127. 1972) indicated a specimen in Herb. Clifford (BM) as the lectotype, but it is unclear which of the two relevant specimens was intended. Lassen’s subsequent choice is of the collection that supports current usage.
