Common name. Dawasir lotak.
Diagnosis. Distinguished from other species of Cyprinion in Arabian Peninsula by: ● usually 40−44 total lateral-line scales / ● 19−22 circumpeduncular scales / ● 8−9 scales between lateral line and dorsal origin / ○ last unbranched dorsal ray long, thick,serrated along almost entire length in large individuals. Size up to 160 mm SL.
Distribution . Saudi Arabia: Pleistocene and extant tributaries of Wadi ad-Dawasir, which flows to interior of Peninsula, including wadis Turabah, Afrak, Shuqub, Buwah, Shumrukh, Noaman, and Habayaba, between 1390 and 1830 m above sea level.
Habitat. Wadis with large seasonal variations in flow.
