Xylophanes pluto (Fabricius, 1777)

General distribution. South USA to Argentina including the West Indies.

Distribution in the DR. Widespread throughout the country.

Habitat. The species is highly generalist. It is generally common, sometimes ultra-abundant, flying from sea level to 2000 m. This insect is found in semi-desert areas, urbanized environments, wastelands and secondary forests, as well as in lush forests at middle to high elevations in the Central Cordillera.
