Synonyms: Conocephalus latipennis (Walker 1869): 378, and Conocephalus fuscipes (Redtenbacher 1891): 421.

Body size: 31–33 mm (male); 36–40 mm (female).

Head: in dorsal view, almost triangular, slightly longer in midline than wide about 1:0.8, shorter than pronotum in length about 1:1.8, head slightly narrower than pronotum about 1:1.3, median length of fastigium shorter than width about 1:1.4, vertex longer than fastigium about 1:0.3; dorsal width of vertex two times wider than antennal scape; compound eyes spherical, prominent.; in lateral view, fastigium without ventral carina, slightly elongate, rounded at the tip; notch between fastigium and frons closed (occasionally open), basal and apical process absent; in anterior view, lateral margins of frons slightly arched and slightly divergent apically; face wider than width at level of eye about 1:0.7.

Thorax: Pronotum without lateral carinae; in lateral view, dorsal and ventral margin straight, median height shorter than median length about 1:1.5, posterior margin without marked invagination; in dorsal view, narrower anteriorly, slightly convergent towards head. Prosternum with a pair developed spines, hind femora with ventral spines, hind femur more than three times longer than mid femur. Tegmina cover abdomen, but in female not the tip of the ovipositor, rather rounded at the tip; male stridulatory rib characteristic with thin teeth present; male mirror of the right tegmen ovoid with a stridulatory file.

Genitalia: Ovipositor straight, slender and narrowing towards the apex, usually as long as hind femur. Cerci cylindrical with perpendicular bending inwardly. Tenth tergite rather concave with straight styli, not projecting beyond cerci.

Coloration: Body in dorsal view, green or dark brown. Head in dorsal view, green or brown; in lateral view, green or dark brown; without postocular stripe; in anterior view, face green or brown; mandible yellow or orange; clypeus and labrum concolorous; yellow or brown.Antenna orange Pronotum in dorsal view, prozona and metazona concolorous, green or brown; in lateral view, green or dark brown. Fore and mid femora, green or brown. Fore and mid tibiae in dorsal view, green or brown; in lateral and ventral view, dark black. Hind leg with femora yellowish green or brown, femoral flange green or brown. Hind tibiae in dorsal view, brown; in lateral and ventral view, dark brown; spines brown. Tegmina transparent with greenish or brownish areas. Abdomen in dorsal view, green or brown.
