Subfamily Coronulinae Leach, 1817

Type genus. Coronula Lamarck, 1802:464; by original designation of Leach (1817: 68).

Diagnosis. Wall large, massive, hemispherical to barrel-shaped; external T-shaped longitudinal flanges welldeveloped; body chamber extending above the surface of the host.

Remarks. Examining fossil specimens from Ecuador, Bianucci et al. (2006) proposed that C. macostayi is a junior synonym of C. diadema, although no detailed taxonomic comparisons were presented.
