This Old-world genus comprises 11 species, with nine described from Africa and two from India (ThripsWiki 2023). Two species of the genus are known from Arabian Peninsula (Table 1). The genus can be distinguished from other genera of Haplothripini by this combination of characters: head elongate; mouth cone extended to posterior margin of pronotum; antennal segment III with two sense cones, V–VI with apex strongly asymmetric; basantra present; metanotum with closely spaced longitudinal striae; fore wings without duplicated cilia; abdominal tergites with more than two pairs of sigmoid setae; tube short (Minaei & Mound 2008).
